Gareth is a global commodities executive with more than 30 years’ experience in shaping and executing commercial strategy. He has worked across a wide variety of business models and business cultures on strategic renewals and business transformations, able to call upon substantial hands-on trading experience and leadership roles with customer-centric risk management and asset-management responsibilities.
Gareth began his commodities career as an energy analyst in Canada before joining various gas and power trading groups, first in Western Canada and eventually Houston, Texas, rising to the position of desk head, NYMEX futures and options trading.
In early 2001, Gareth moved to Europe as Senior Vice President of Trading and Chief Commercial Officer of two major utility trading platforms and a global commodity merchant. In this capacity he was tasked with rebuilding and running all critical elements of commercial operations and trading. Gareth’s most recent role before joining EuroChem was as CEO for the world’s largest sugar trader.
Gareth is a graduate of University of Winnipeg (Canada), and received further education at Georgia Institute of Technology (USA).
